The merger of Alberta Barley and the Alberta Wheat Commission is officially just days away.
The newly formed organization will be known as "Alberta Grains" and will begin operations on August 1st.
The two organizations have been working on the merger since 2017.
Chair of the Alberta Wheat Commission Greg Sears says the new organization (Alberta Grains) will be focused on delivering value to farmers and other stakeholders while contributing to the growth and sustainability of the grain industry in Alberta.
Both boards are proud of the collaboration.
Alberta Barley chair Tara Sawyer says their hope is that through the new commission, we will continue to add value and further fiscal and operational efficiencies.
The new logo of Alberta Grains is designed to represent the grains that are grown in the province, with a modern and clean design that reflects the organization's vision of strength and ‘better together’ mantra.
The information hub AlbertaGrains. com is now up and operational and lists key contacts, new branding information, and the commissions' operational changes including applications for new grain dealer licenses.
The proposed bylaws for the new commission are also available on the information hub and will be open for consultation until July 25, 2023.
Farmers are encouraged to provide their feedback on the bylaws by emailing info@albertagrains.com.
