Hundreds attend Last Cowboy Standing at Strathmore Ag Grounds

Over a dozen bullriders competed, but only one of them was the Last Cowboy Standing.

The annual event, hosted by Lazy P Rodeo Company, took place at the Strathmore Ag Grounds on Saturday (Sept. 20) afternoon, bringing hundreds of residents to watch the show.

With a sold-out show, the event was conquered three-for-three by British Columbia-based rider Auzyn Corr, who won the decoration of Last Cowboy Standing.

Agra Risk Wheatland Kings kick off season with home opener tailgate party

Dozens of residents were outside of the Strathmore Family Centre to kick off the regular season for the Agra Risk Wheatland Kings.

The local hockey team hosted a home opener tailgate party in the centre's parking lot on Friday (Sept. 19), which featured live music, hot food, and cold drinks.

After a strong preseason, the Kings carried the momentum into the regular season, starting with a 6-2 home victory against the Ponoka Stampeders after the party.

Strathmore's children represented through birth forest

Strathmore's birth forest just got some new additions.

The forest, located near the intersection of Thomas Drive and Centennial Drive, was put together by Communities in Bloom and represents all of the children who are born in town. Several volunteers were out at the intersection on Saturday (Sept. 20) to add several new trees and plants to the forest.
