Moose Jaw Events Centre general manager Ryan MacIvor is slated to present to Moose Jaw City Council tonight to give the final summary from the 2023 World Para Ice Hockey Championships.
Moose Jaw hosted the world-class event from May 28 to June 4 with teams competing from Norway, Korea, China, the United States, Canada, Germany, Czechia and Italy.
A request is also coming to city council for a change order to the city’s utility cut repairs.
Utility cuts are the removal or disposal of concrete and asphalt for planned work such as repairing water main breaks, sewer repairs, water service repairs, and hydrant and valve replacements.
The change order is to use $430,000 from the Department of Engineering’s operational budgets for utility cut repairs.
The city is looking to use its paved roads and sidewalks contractor to take on extra utility cut repair sites.
Finally, city council will be appointing a new Class III building official. The hiring will allow the city to do building plan reviews and inspections in-house. Before, the city was contracting out the service to Municode.
