Saskatoon's Harreson James Band and opening act Long Live the Glory (including Estevan's Jesse Gibson) played to a lively crowd at Saturday night's Street Dance.
The concert was put on by the Estevan Downtown Business Association on the 1100 block of 4th Street and Tower Cafe parking lot.
Robert Godfrey, one of the organizers of the event, said it was a blast to put on, with over 1100 people attending the event.
That was in spite of the fact they had to deal with a bit of rain during the day.
“For the first year since we started hosting this ... which is I think 4 years, we had rain during the event, but that certainly didn't slow down the party. We were off the stage for about an hour due to the thunderstorm, but when we got back the party continued like nothing had happened and everyone just had a great time. It was an amazing event for the Downtown Business Association."
Godfrey says both bands got a great reception from the crowd, with the organizers looking to broaden the acts next year.
“We found some efficiencies for the setup and we were really happy with our bands that came out this year. We heard rave reviews about both Long Live the Glory and the Harreson James Band. I think we've set the bar high for finding entertainment for next year, but I think something that we wanna do is have another setup that covers all the bases when it comes to genres.”
"We had a mix of rock and country and pop and some oldies and it just went over well with everyone that we had intended. So I think that's something that we're going to look for when we're planning next year's event as well."
Godfrey thanked all of the people who came out to make the night a success, as well as the volunteers and sponsors who helped to make the night happen.
