Anton “Tony” Frerichs
September 25, 1930 – July 23, 2023

On July 23, 2023, Anton (Tony) Frerichs passed away peacefully at the Humboldt Hospital with his loving family by his side. He was 92 years old. Tony was born to Gustav and Maria (née Klinker) Frerichs on the family homestead south of St. Gregor on September 25, 1930. He was the third born and last survivor of the eight Frerichs children. Tony left school at a very young age to help on the farm doing what he loved. In 1942, he helped build the barn that is still standing on the farm today and holds so many wonderful family memories for everyone. He lived on the Frerichs homestead from the time he was born until he passed. Tony married the love of his life, Delores Thiemann, on July 8, 1961. Tony and Delores immediately started their family of five daughters and one son. In 1969, when Delores was expecting their fifth child, they built a new home on the farm and moved in shortly after he was born. They recently celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary on Tony’s beloved family farm with all of their children, and most of their grandchildren and great grandchildren in attendance. Tony was always willing to lend a hand to any friend, neighbor or relative who needed help; sometimes even putting his own work on hold to assist others. Being a regular blood donor was important to Tony and he received recognition awards for the number of donations he made until he could no longer donate due to his age. He was a kind, hard working, quiet and gentle man with a heart of gold and his family meant everything to him. He was proud of each of his children, his grandchildren, and great grandchildren, and they all held a special place in his heart. He enjoyed family camping trips every summer when the children were small, and family curling in St. Gregor in the winter when they were a bit older. Tony farmed with his brothers, Leo and Al, for many years and then on his own until he was into his seventies. When he was done actively farming, he helped others during seeding and harvest until he was in his mid-eighties. Tony is lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his devoted wife of 62 years, Delores and his six loving children, fifteen precious grandchildren and seven precious great grandchildren: Cheryl (Des) Wourms and family, Adam, Nicole and Brittany (Dylan); Sharon (Darrell) Crone and family: Eric (Cassandra) and children Braelyn and Bentley, Nathan (Kelsi), and Ian (Michelle) and children Sawyer and Lennox; LeeAnn (Randy) Wassermann and family: Jade (Brendan) and children Revan and Aria, Darby (Jay) and Kianna (Brandyn); Ladine Harley and family: Brant (Corryn), and Daven (Melissa) and daughter Quinn; Blaine (Tracy) Frerichs and family: Brett (Rachael), Bailey, and Mattie; Lynn (Michael Hoare) Frerichs and son Zachary; and numerous sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; his seven siblings; other relatives; and close friends. The Graveside Service and Interment was offered St. Gregory Roman Catholic Cemetery, St. Gregor, SK, on Thursday, August 3, 2023, at 2:00 p.m., celebrated by Fran Gasmo-Bemner. Others taking part were: Cheryl Wourms and Lynn Frerichs said Words of Remembrance; Blaine Frerichs, urn bearer; and Cheryl Wourms, Sharon Crone, LeeAnn Wasserman, Ladine Harley, Lynn Frerichs, 15 Grandchildren and 7 Great-grandchildren; honorary pall bears. Following the service, a memorial luncheon was held at the St. Gregor Hall. Memorial donations may be sent to the S.T.A.R.S.- Air Ambulance (Hanger 21, 2475 Airport Road, Saskatoon, SK SZL 1M4) or St. Gregory Roman Catholic Church - Cemetery Fund (PO Box 51, St. Gregor, SK S0K 3X0).
