A cyclist was transported to the Boundary Trails Health Centre (BTHC) Tuesday following an early evening collision with a vehicle.

Minutes before 6 pm, Winkler Police, the Winkler Fire Department, and Boundary Trails paramedics responded to the scene on First Street near Pembina Avenue.

Upon arrival, police located the injured cyclist on the west boulevard with a red car parked nearby in the outside southbound lane.

The initial police investigation indicated the cyclist had been riding through traffic, and had turned in front of the southbound car which then struck the cyclist.

Police closed the southbound lanes of Highway #32 and traffic was diverted around the scene for several hours.

RCMP traffic analysts also attended and documented the scene.
