The following is the RCMP report to August 2, 2023. This reporting period, police responded to the following calls for service.
- 4 traffic violations
- 5 provincial statute (Mental Health Act, Fire Prevention Act, Coroner's Act, 911 Act)
- 8 common police activities (alarms, suspicious persons/vehicles, assistance to general public)
- 12 crimes against property
- 8 other criminal code
- 5 crimes against persons
- 2 traffic accident
PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT:
Just a reminder that RCMP DO NOT do child abuse and adult abuse registry checks. RCMP is responsible for criminal record checks and vulnerable sector checks. You require a vulnerable sector check if you are in a position of trust. You must present to the detachment when applying for a vulnerable sector check.
Position of Trust means a paid or voluntary position dealing with vulnerable people. Vulnerable people may include children, youth, the elderly, people with physical, developmental, emotional, social, or other disabilities, people who are addicted or dependent on addictive substances, and people who have been the victim of a crime or an accident.
Applicants who require a Vulnerable Sector Check from their organization must present themselves in person and provide written consent in order for the checks to be conducted.
Proper identification must be produced and recorded on the application: a government issued photo identification for the Primary Document, and a secondary document which verifies the Primary identification.
YOUTH CRIMINAL RECORD CHECKS
Criminal record checks cannot be done on youth unless working in Government. It has been established that non-provincially or municipally run summer camps and pools, public/private schools including colleges/universities are not government employers.
July 26, 2023
Police received a report of damage to property in the Brenda-Waskada area. The matter is still under investigation.
Police received a report in Killarney of a dog that was out in a yard with no water. Police checked on the dog who was not in distress and turned the matter over to the Town Animal Control Officer.
July 27, 2023
Police received a 911 call of trespassing on a yard on Johnson Street in Boissevain. Police attended and patrolled the area and checked the property. No one located.
Police received a third-party report of uttering threats in the Cartwright-Roblin area. Information was given on a peace bond.
Police received a report of mischief in Ninette. The matter was reported for insurance purposes.
July 28, 2023
Police received a report of a single vehicle rollover in the Brenda-Waskada area. No injuries.
Police received a report of theft in Boissevain. The matter is civil.
Police received a report of a person driving without a license in Killarney. The matter is under investigation.
Police received a report of theft in Killarney. The matter is under investigation.
Police received a report of a male failing to comply with his probation order. A warrant was issued for the male.
Police responded to an altercation in Killarney. The matter is under investigation and charges are pending.
July 29, 2023
Police were dispatched to a domestic assault in Killarney. A female was transported to hospital with minor injuries. A male subject was arrested on scene. He was later released on an undertaking with conditions and will appear in court at a later date.
Police received a report of a male failing to comply with conditions of a court order. Matter is under investigation and a warrant has been issued.
Police assisted with a matter under the Mental Health Act in Deloraine.
Police received a report of disturbing the peace in Killarney. Patrol was made and all was quiet at the residence.
Police received a report of extortion in Boissevain. Police attended and located a male who was intoxicated and uncooperative with police. He was arrested for causing a disturbance and was lodged until sober. The extortion was unfounded.
Police were dispatched to a 911 call. Police attended the last known address of the owner who no longer lived there. The number was pinged and police attended the lat and long of the location. No signs of distress.
July 30, 2023
Police received a report of uttering threats and assault in Killarney. A female was arrested, charged and lodged. She was later released on an undertaking and will appear in court at a later date.
Police received a report of a stolen truck in Hartney overnight. The matter is under investigation.
Police responded to a 2-vehicle accident on highway 18, south of Killarney. The accident occurred when a semi- truck and a truck collided. The semi-truck to roll into the ditch. Ambulance, Fire and police attended. Vehicle driver of semi was extracted and taken to Winnipeg with injuries. The driver was of the pickup truck was taken to Killarney hospital with injuries.
July 31, 2023
Police received a report of a theft in Hartney. The matter is under investigation.
Police received a report of mischief in Killarney. There was insufficient evidence to proceed.
August 1, 2023
Police received a report of mischief in Killarney when the caller advised an unknown person was in their vehicle. Police attended and spoke with the caller who advised no damage to vehicle nothing stolen, vehicle had been rummaged through and the vehicle was unlocked. Police made patrols in town for the next two hours, spoke with a few people walking around playing pokemon go, no suspicious people located.
Police received two reports of vehicles that had been rummaged through in Killarney overnight. Police remind the public to lock your doors.
August 2, 2023
Police were dispatched to a single vehicle rollover east of Killarney. One male was taken to hospital with injuries. The cause of the accident in under investigation.
Police were asked to do a well-being check in Holmfield. The male was located.
Reminder: It is important to report ALL thefts, stolen or lost property to police in a timely fashion so that it can be followed up on by police.
