Lucien Emile Bussiere
September 26, 1940 - July 31, 2023

Lucien Emile Bussiere, a beloved father, grandfather, farmer, fisherman, and dedicated handyman, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, July 31st, 2023, at the age of 82, leaving behind memories that will forever be cherished by all who knew him. Born on September 26th, 1940, Lucien’s journey began with a love for the land and cattle. He worked the family farm, tending to crops, pigs, and cattle, and he took great pride in passing down his experiences to future generations. He embraced a simpler way of living, cherishing the fruits of his labour and finding joy in the beauty of the natural world around him. His favourite place was Rocky Lake, Manitoba, where he found solace and a sense of belonging, surrounded by pristine waters and tranquil wilderness. Hunting and fishing were always a priority, especially with family and friends. Beyond his agricultural pursuits, Lucien remained a skilled handyman, always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. As a husband and as a father, Lucien’s devotion knew no bounds. On June 22nd, 1963, he married and had four children with Lorraine Thorpe (d. April 20th, 1975). He then remarried on October 30th, 1976 to Margaret Taphorn. Grandpa Lucien, as he was affectionately known, held a special place in the hearts of his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He filled their lives with joy, laughter, and precious memories, creating a bond that will forever endure. Lucien’s presence in the lives of those he touched will be sorely missed, but his spirit will live on through the stories and memories shared by family and friends. As we say goodbye, we celebrate the life of a remarkable man who enriched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. Lucien is survived by his wife Margaret; his loving children, their spouses, grandchildren, and great grandchildren: Murielle (Lorne) Smith of Wynyard, SK, and their kids Tyson [Charlotte], Lisa (Caitlyn), and Dustin (Kaylyn); Anita (Jim) Plaksy of Quill Lake, SK, and their kids JJ (Leanne) [Silas and Hollis], Lorraine (Jason) [Esra and Oliver], and Vanessa (Rahim) [Ziyaan]; Shannon (Bob) Skinner of Regina, SK, and their kids AJ (Jayde) [Mila and Aria], Cassie, and Ethan; Emile (Sandy) Bussiere of Lake Lenore, SK; Jennifer (Greg) Flasko of Saint Front, SK, and their kids Keira, Alyssa, and Daniel; Lorin Bussiere of Melfort, SK; Ursula (Ron Strelic) Bussiere of Quill Lake, SK, and their daughter Brianna; Bernard Bussiere of Humboldt, SK.
