It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mom. Janie “Dorothy” Day formally of Mortlach, SK, passed away peacefully in Regina on August 7, 2023, at the age of 93. She was born in Moose Jaw in 1929. Due to poor crops her family moved to the Tisdale area in 1937. Dorothy married George Day in July of 1955 and moved to Eastleigh District south of Mortlach to farm. Dorothy and George raised three children on the farm. She enjoyed playing cards, gardening, sewing and her grandchildren’s visits.
Dorothy is survived by her three children, Blaine (Marianne) Day, Heather (John) Setters and Cheryl (Peter) Thorson; grandchildren Melanie Day, Evan, Ashley, and Matthew Thorson; sister Sandi (Ed) Gardiner and sister-in-law Edith (Bill) Altman. Dorothy is predeceased by her mother, Janie Altman; father, Leonard Altman; stepmother Louise Altman; brothers William “Bill” Altman and Grant Altman.
A come and go tea will be held for Dorothy on Monday August 14, 2023, from 2:30 pm – 4:00 pm at W. J. Jones and Son Reception Hall 474 Hochelaga St. W, Moose Jaw, SK.
