Members of the Morden Police Service handed out numerous speeding tickets this past week.

Out of the tickets written, the biggest fine for speeding was $573 to a driver going 40 km/h over the limit.

During the past week, officers also issued one ticket for possession of liquor by a minor, which carries a fine of $672, four tickets for not buckling up, two tickets for driving imprudently, and two tickets for unlawful transportation of liquor in a motor vehicle.

Two drivers had their vehicles taken away among other disciplinary measures after being caught racing on Friday evening.

Just after 10 pm, while on general patrol, Morden police witnessed the two vehicles racing in front of them. Officers stopped both vehicles and issued the drivers a ticket for racing with another motor vehicle, which carries a fine of $672.

Both drivers also received a driver's license suspension and were served a serious offense notice.

The owner of a pickup truck in Morden recently received an unpleasant surprise.

Last week Wednesday, Morden Police received a call from a male reporting his 1992 grey Chevrolet pickup was parked on the street in the 100 block of 12th Street over the weekend.

When he returned home, the man said his vehicle was gone.

Police are continuing to investigate.
