The Minor Box Lacrosse Nationals are underway in Regina, and Team Saskatchewan is carrying a strong Weyburn contingent across all age groups. The tournament opened up Monday and goes through until the weekend.  

In the girls' U13 group, Weyburn is represented by Julie Labrecque, Paycen Pabiarz, Yael Herriot, Hunter Moon and Bree Tuchscherer. They opened the tournament Monday morning with a 4-2 win over Nova Scotia and followed it up with a 2-1 win over Nova Scotia Tuesday morning.  

Labrecque scored two goals in the first game, with Moon adding an assist. Labrecque then added another goal in the game Tuesday. 

On the U15 boys, Alex Labrecque, Hudson Maloney and Quinton Stinson from Weyburn are on Team Saskatchewan. They started the tournament out with a 7-3 loss to Team Ontario and followed it up with a 4-4- draw with New Brunswick Tuesday morning. They then got into the win column with an 8-1 win over Nova Scotia.  

So far, Maloney is the lone player from Weyburn to score a goal, tallying in the first game of the tournament.  

Sawyer Leko is the lone representative from Weyburn on Team Saskatchewan in the U17 age group. The team started out with a 9-5 loss to Alberta Monday, then bounced back with a 6-3 win over Nova Scotia in the game Tuesday night.  

There are four from Weyburn on the girls' U17 team – Ella Schenher, Jorja Ashworth, Brittney Honig and Callie Dammann. They opened the tournament with a 5-3 loss to Ontario, then followed it up with a 3-3 draw against Nova Scotia Tuesday afternoon.  

Schenher has led the way offensively for the team, scoring three goals so far, and adding an assist.
