The Minor Box Lacrosse National Championships are still underway in Regina, and players from Weyburn continue to make an impact on the Saskatchewan teams across all age groups. 

In the U13 Girls group, Team Saskatchewan fell 2-1 to Nova Scotia Wednesday morning. Weyburn’s Hunter Moon scored the lone goal for Saskatchewan in the game.  

The U13 Boys walked over Team Manitoba yesterday afternoon, picking up a 10-2 victory.  

The U15 Boys were up against PEI and would score early and often en route to a 22-1 victory. Weyburn’s Alex Labrecque helped lead the way, scoring a goal and adding five assists in the win. Then, in the afternoon, Saskatchewan beat Manitoba 8-2 to improve to 3-1-1 in the round-robin. 

The U15 Girls were up against a tough BC squad yesterday, and came up short, falling 5-1.  

The U17 Boys were on the floor for a late game yesterday and would drop a 9-2 decision against Ontario.  

The U17 Girls played a pair of games yesterday. In the morning, they fell 5-2 to Team Alberta. Weyburn’s Ella Schenher scored for Saskatchewan in the loss. Then, in the late afternoon, Saskatchewan beat Quebec 8-3. Schenher added a goal and an assist in the win.  

It will be a busy day for Saskatchewan Thursday. The U13 Boys take on Nova Scotia in the afternoon to close out their round-robin. The U13 Girls play Team British Columbia in the morning and follow it up with an afternoon game against Ontario.  

The U15 Boys take on Quebec in the afternoon, while the U15 Girls play Nova Scotia in the late morning. 

The U17 Boys face Manitoba in the nightcap game Thursday, while the U17 Girls take on British Columbia in the morning, and follow it up with an evening match against New Brunswick.
