Garry Armstrong
November 9, 1944 – August 11, 2023
The death of Garry James Armstrong of Golden Acres, Wynyard, Saskatchewan, (and formerly of Humboldt, Saskatchewan), occurred at his residence on Friday, August 11, 2023. He was 78 years of age. Garry was born to Jim and Dorothy (née Strome) Armstrong of Quill Lake, Saskatchewan, on November 9, 1944, in Wadena, Saskatchewan. He grew up on the farm just west of Quill Lake and completed all his primary schooling in Quill Lake. He then furthered his education in Brandon, Manitoba, taking agricultural parts training. Garry was a parts person for many years in various agriculture dealerships. It was while he was setting up the computer parts department in Regina, Saskatchewan, that he met Shirley Little. That friendship was turned into wedding bells on November 17, 1973. Garry and Shirley created their home in Humboldt, Saskatchewan, in 1978, and were blessed with two sons, Graeme and Colin. Garry was very involved in coaching baseball and bowling, but his true passion was being with his family and friends, especially the grandchildren. In 2019, due to failing health, Garry became a resident of Golden Acres in Wynyard, SK. He enjoyed it there and the staff was remarkable! Garry will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Shirley (nee Little) Armstrong; son, Graeme (Jodie) Armstrong and family, Noah, and twins James and George; son, Colin (Jocelyn) Armstrong and family, twins Allie and Emma; two sisters: Val Gregor and family, Clint, Vince, Yvonne, Darren and Terrena, and Lois (Richard) Polkinghorne and family, Brenan and Carmen; sister-in-law, Sharon (Jerry) Ackerman and family, Sherry and Greg; brothers-in-law: Bob (Dawn) and family, Caron and Trina, and Don (Margie) and family, Melanie and Jeff. Garry was predeceased by his parents, Jim and Dorothy (nee Strome) Armstrong; parents-in-law, Jim and Phyllis (nee Parish) Little; and by his brother-in-law, Peter Gregor. The family would like to thank all who came to visit Garry. It was very much appreciated. The Private Family Graveside Service was held at Humboldt Public Cemetery, Humboldt, SK, officiated by Rev. Marie-Louise Ternier. Music was provided by Shades of Bleu. A Memorial Luncheon for family and friends was held at the Bella Vista Inn, Humboldt. The guest book attendant was Sharon Ackerman. Memorial donations may be directed to Parkinson Canada (#1108 – 2103 Airport Drive, Saskatoon, SK, S7L 6W2).
