The Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings were on the road again Wednesday night, travelling to Melville to face the Millionaires. The Wings would hold a 3-2 lead after 20 minutes of play, but a flurry of goals would force overtime, and Melville would come away with a 5-4 win.

Weyburn opened the scoring when 03-born forward Brad Banach scored just 1:01 into the game. Nick Jones had the assist on the goal. The 1-0 lead would hold until the second period, when Melville responded with a pair of goals in just under two minutes, with Cohen Swan and Colten Sell beating Ryan Piekarski.

The Red Wings responded just before the halfway mark of the middle period, as Banach scored his second of the game, assisted by Charlie Munroe. Then, three minutes later, Zach Vaillancourt found the twine to make it 3-2. Payton Hu and Jack Anderson had the helpers on the goal.

Melville came out firing in the third frame, though, as two goals in the first half of the period gave them the lead. Ryan Larsen and Jake Briltz would beat Ryan Hicks to make it 4-3 for the home side. The Wings would answer back, though, as Liam Fitzgerald scored with 9:55 left to play in regulation to tie the game up. Dallen Oxelgren and Lucas Schmid had the assists.

In overtime, Felix Beauchemin would score with just over two minutes remaining to give the Millionaires the 5-4 victory.

The Red Wings will have Thursday night off before they head down Highway 39 Friday night to take on the Estevan Bruins. The Wings will play their first home game of the preseason when the Bruins come to town Saturday.
