Gimli RCMP found a stockpile of stolen items during the execution of a search warrant on a property in the RM of Gimli this week.

The search was made this past Wednesday (September 20) by the Gimli RCMP, Selkirk RCMP, and the Manitoba East District Criminal Response Enforcement Support Team as part of an ongoing investigation.

During the search, officers recovered tens of thousands of dollars worth of stolen property, including motor vehicles, generators, and commercial tools. The officers also seized a carbine-style firearm with several rounds of ammunition, and a small amount of methamphetamine.

It was learned that the stolen items were from various locations across southern Manitoba, some from as far away as Steinbach.

Numerous criminal charges include several charges of Possession of Stolen Property, two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance, and a number of firearms-related charges.

The investigation is ongoing.

“The Manitoba RCMP understands that property crime affects all communities and continues to take steps to combat these types of criminal offences in rural Manitoba,” says Superintendent John Duff, RCMP East District Commander.

The RCMP are currently making efforts to return the property to the rightful owners.
