A new Chief Administrative Officer has been hired for the R.M. of Stanley.
Council confirmed Friday that Terry Penner will fill the role, replacing Dale Toews who departed and filled the CEO job with the Pembina Valley Water Co-op.
Penner is currently the Executive Director of the C.W. Wiebe Medical Centre in Winkler and, according to a Municipality news release, possesses a strong background in leadership, finance, administration, and experience in a local government setting.
“We took our time with this search because we wanted to make sure we found the right person for this role," explained Reeve Ike Friesen. "This is a big role, in a busy community. With a population of just under 10,000, our villages, our rural areas, agriculture, industry, it is all here, and it is busy. Take a look around everywhere you go in our community there is activity. “
“This is a demanding role to manage and balance what is all going on. It takes a special skill set and we are confident we found that.”
“We are in a good place right now, we have a good council, solid staff, things are getting done and we are focused on the future, given the strategic importance of this position we felt it was important to find someone that can sort of pick up the baton and keep that momentum going forward," added Friesen. "We feel Terry can do that for us and we couldn’t be more pleased that he agreed to join us.”
Penner is expected to start his new job with the R.M. of Stanley in early December.
