Marcella “Marcy” (née Kraelemann) Hinz
April 2, 1931 – October 7, 2023

Marcella “Marcy” Margaret (née Kraelemann) Hinz was born on April 2, 1931, in Marysburg, SK. She was the youngest of five daughters and one son of Herman and Wilhelmina Kraelemann. Marcy attended St. Ives School, a small country school a near Marysburg. Being the youngest, Marcy spent a lot of her time babysitting for her sisters while they each helped their husbands with their own farming operations. On June 20, 1950, she married Daniel Hinz in a double wedding ceremony with Daniel’s sister. Soon after getting married, Marcy and Daniel purchased a farmyard in the St. Gertrude area where they raised ten children. Sadly, an 11th child, Myra, passed away at only one and a half months of age. As the kids grew up, Marcy started working outside the home. She worked at St. Peter’s College kitchen, Sincere Restaurant (now Wong’s Restaurant), and the Uniplex kitchen to name a few places. Family always mattered most to Marcy, and that extended well beyond her own children and grandchildren. Marcy was “mom” or “grandma” to everyone she met. There was always the wonderful smell of fresh baking in her house, whether it was bread, buns, cookies, cakes, or a variety of other tasty treats and Marcy loved to visit and laugh, and that held true until her final days. When Marcy retired, she took up crocheting and knitting. Every grandchild, and most of the great grandchildren, received hand-made afghans or christening gowns. Crocheted dishcloths and tea towel hangers were often given as gifts to family members and friends. She also loved to do embroidery, and she made lots of table runners or doilies. Marcy also loved reading and word search books. When she received her first iPad, she didn’t think she would ever be able to use it. However, it didn’t take too long before she was always on it looking at pictures of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and communicating through Facebook. Eventually, the iPad took over from her books as she used it for her various word games. After Daniel’s passing, Marcy continued to live in her home in Humboldt with her daughter Jackie, son-in-law Keith, and granddaughter Samantha. After moving into Caleb Village and eventually St. Mary’s Villa, she continued to play cards with those who came to visit her. Marcy leaves behind her seven children, 23 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild: son LARRY (Sharon) Hinz and family: Jeff (Cindy) Hinz: Kailey (Thomas) Hartman (Berkeley), James and Justin; Craig (Joelle) Hinz: Ashton and Alyssa; Rina (Robert) Sibbeston: Mackenna; Tim (Jennifer Croucher) Hinz; son WARREN (Joanne) Hinz and family: Christopher (Luciano) Hinz; Daniel (Nancy) Hinz: Kelsey and Ryder; son RODNEY (Delphine) Hinz and family: LaDawn (Blaine) Tokarchik: Tyson, Michelle, Carmen, Owen, and Daniel; Curtis Hinz; Trevor Hinz; Nicole Stockbrugger: Zackery, Zoey, and Mason; Melissa Hinz; daughter-in-law Darlene Hinz and family: Kendall Hinz; daughter ARLENE (Douglas) Schmidt and family: Myra Schmidt; Mark (Connie) Schmidt: Joshua, Justin, Jeremy and Emily; Stephanie (Jesse) Alsbach; Steven (Kirsten) Schmidt: Adalynn, Natalie and Eleanor; daughter WANDA (Bill) Ross and family: Adam (April) Ross: Graham and Ethan; Sherri Ross; Megan Ross; daughter MELINDA Hinz; daughter JACKIE (Keith) Klitch and family: Ryan (Kira) Klitch: Halle and Jensen; Tiffany (Jesse) Bangs: Tyra and Ellie; Samantha Klitch; brother-in-law John Zimmer; and sister-in-law Dorothy Hinz.
