The Estevan Legion recently made a $4,000 donation to the STARS Air Ambulance,  a service dedicated to giving people emergency support when needed.

That's just one of the many donations that go towards the organization, including some that are planned annually.

All that money helps to keep the air ambulance running, as explained by the Communications Lead for STARS Saskatchewan Jonah van Driesum.

"STARS is incredibly grateful for the ongoing generosity of the Estevan Legion and Legions across Saskatchewan and the prairies. Their support is the lifeblood that helps build the grassroots work and movement that funds all of  STARS operations."

"What a generous donation like this means is that when someone's experiencing the worst moments of their lives or one of the scariest moments of their lives, that donation ensures that a STARS air medical crew can get to them and provide the life-saving critical care that they need, as well as providing reassurance both to them and their families that they're receiving the highest quality care available." 

 The funding also helps to continue research and innovation that further improves STARS' service.

"It also helps us continue to innovate and be the leaders of medical innovation across the prairies. That includes innovations that have been specifically developed in Saskatchewan, most recently looking at our new mass hemorrhage protocol that gives us additional capabilities to support patients when they're having severe bleeds."

While the provincial government does support the 

"In Saskatchewan, 50% of our funding is generously donated to us by the provincial government. Then we go out and we raise the other 50% from individuals in the community, from businesses, and from community organizations like the Legion, who have been so generous. For us in a year, we have to raise 10.5 million to fund both of our bases."
