A Portage la Prairie RCMP officer was making patrols and conducted a traffic stop with a vehicle on 6th Avenue NE last week, leading to multiple charges for a 27-year-old man.
On October 8, at approximately 11:36 a.m., the officer approached the vehicle. Cannabis was seen in open view inside the vehicle. Police searched the vehicle and located a can of bear spray under the driver’s seat. Subsequently, the 27-year-old man from Crane River First Nation was placed under arrest.
He faces a Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose charge and received a ticket for Consuming Cannabis in a Vehicle on a Roadway, costing him $672.00.
The Crane River First Nation man was released to appear in court at a later date.
