Gary Connon
March 13, 1951 – October 22, 2023

In loving memory of Gary James Connon, a dear father, grandfather and great grandfather who passed away at St. Mary's Villa in Humboldt, Saskatchewan on October 22, 2023.  Gary was born in Banff, Alberta on March 13, 1951.  His family moved to Brant, Alberta during his teenage years and his adult life was spent in Calgary.  Gary was very community oriented and loved to help those in need.  He was always on the go.  It started with a paper route in Banff and on to many clubs and volunteer organizations.  The Lions Club, the Boys and Girls Club along with bowling, curling, hockey and baseball to name a few.  His career as a heavy duty mechanic at Canadian Pacific Railway lasted over 40 years.  Gary's love of people showed in all of his actions throughout his life.  A testament to this was his friendship with Mike Jordan and Paul Bradley which lasted from his time in Banff until the time of his passing.

Remember Dad with a smile today
He wasn't one for tears,
Reflect with joy, on the memories
of all those happy years.
Recall whistled tunes, tales from the past
and funny things he said and did.
His strength, his love, the way he joked
Remember those instead.
The good times that he shared with us
The work, the play, the fun.
So much of him that didn't die
He left for everyone!

He is survived by his beloved daughters Leeann (James) Sparkes, Karen Gammel, Tina (Jason) Hiebert and Dana Turner;  seven grandchildren: Billy Sparkes, Christian Gammel, Destiny Gammel, Riley Pierrard, Caitlin Pierrard, Jayla Hiebert and Hannah Turner; his five loving great grandchildren; as well as his siblings: Margaret Mclean, Albert Connon and Ken Connon.  He was predeceased by his father Thomas Connon, his mother Harriet Connon, and his sister Doreen Hanna.

A graveside service will be held at a later date in Champion, Alberta.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to the Alzheimer Society of Canada.
