Portage la Prairie RCMP have charged a Dauphin man with multiple weapons offences following a Saskatchewan Avenue incident.

Police say that on October 16, at 2:30 p.m., Portage la Prairie RCMP officers were called to a business in the 100 block of Saskatchewan Avenue West. The caller indicated to the RCMP that a man was sitting outside this business with what looked to be a gun in his possession.

Officers arrived and took the 42-year-old male suspect from Dauphin into custody without incident.

The suspect is charged with two counts of Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purposes, Carrying a Concealed Weapon and Weapons Possession Contrary to an Order.

He was remanded and appeared in court on October 18th.
