As the second round of significant snowfall in as many days works closer to the Pembina Valley, Environment Canada has reissued a Snowfall Warning for the Morden, Winkler, Altona and Morris regions, now joining all of Southeastern Manitoba including communities like Emerson, Vita, Steinbach and Sprague.
"This falls in line with what we expected," said CMOS Accredited Weathercaster Chris Sumner. "The first round tapered off early Thursday morning, with light snow picking up again mid-afternoon. Snowfall rates will increase and intensify as we get into the evening hours, with 1 to 2cms per hour possible late tonight through the overnight into early Friday morning."

Environment Canada has indicated this next shot of snow could lead to an additional 10 to 20cm, with the highest amounts near the American border. Sumner expects the Morden, Winkler, Altona and Morris regions will be in that 10cm, or slightly more range, from Thursday evening and to Friday morning. The snow will taper off Friday morning.
"Another factor to keep in mind is northerly winds will pick up to the 30 to 50 km/h range, meaning blowing snow will be concern during those heavier hours of snowfall," added Sumner. "The breezy conditions are expected to last into Friday afternoon."
