On October 6, at about 7:50 pm, RCMP police from Portage la Prairie responded to a report of a vehicle-pedestrian collision on 3rd Street NE in Portage la Prairie.
Investigators determined that a vehicle, being driven by an 18-year-old man from Sidney, MB, was travelling north on 3rd Street NE when it struck a 57-year-old woman, from Portage la Prairie, who had suddenly attempted to cross the street.
The driver, along with two other witnesses, stopped and provided assistance to the victim until police and EMS arrived on scene.
The victim was taken to hospital in critical condition and later transferred to Winnipeg where, on October 21, she succumbed to her injuries.
Portage la Prairie RCMP continue to investigate.
