The Swift Current Fall Hobby, Craft, and Gun Show brought in crowds once again this time around.
The annual show is the second run of the venue for the year. This fall edition saw a huge selection of firearms, ammunition, accessories, home goods, food, collectibles, and antiques filling up the Stockade Building in Kinetic Park. The show ran from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, and again on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Once again, the show was hosted by its Originator and Founder, Henry Banman. Banman has enjoyed over 50 years of the Hobby, Craft, and Gun Show. Each year they bring in a wide array of individuals with an even larger selection of goods.
"What I am gathering from having done these shows for many, many years is people like seeing different, strange, new, and very old stuff," said Banman. "Whether they indulge in it or not, it doesn't seem to matter."
Banman had hundreds if not thousands of people walk into his show this year. The booths were all fairly well attended, with a few leaving more than a little richer. One individual, who came to sell knives, even managed to sell animal skulls used in his display.
"They like seeing it, the people that bring their show stuff here," said Banman. "They haven't let us down. They do a fantastic job."
Local groups like the Swift Current Salvation Army, Swilver Wings Access Van, and the Royal Canadian Sea Cadets were invited by Banman to set up in the centre of the Stockade. They were able to fundraise, generating support from the locals who came out for the two-day show.
"We can do more and we should do more," said Banman. "If we get it right, we will be more."
Anyone who missed out on the Hobby, Craft, and Gun Show this go around can count on it being back in 2024. For now, winter is on its way, with the season coming to a close.
