Former premier calls for diversifying energy trading partners
Former Saskatchewan Premier Brad Wall is urging trade diversification in the face of American uncertainty.
While a lot of focus in the federal election campaign has been on dealings with U.S. President Donald Trump, Wall doesn't know if anyone is really prepared for Trump's approach.
"Either are going to be as able as the other one to deal with the President," Wall said. "It changes every day. I'm not sure if there's anybody, including people in the President's own administration, who are ready for that kind of volatility and the changes we've seen."
Patzer accuses Liberals of inaction on canola tariffs
The MP for Cypress Hills-Grasslands wants to see action from the Federal government on Chinese canola tariffs.
Jeremy Patzer feels the Liberals have not done enough to avoid 100 per cent tariffs coming March 20th on Canadian canola.
"The government has been asleep at the wheel," Patzer said. "They've done nothing to try to resolve these issues or prevent these things from happening. You've got to be active in your foreign affairs policy and international trade. They've done absolutely nothing in both departments to ensure this wouldn't happen."
Dekowny pleads guilty to lesser charge
The Jim Dekowny case is one step closer to resolution.
Appearing by phone from Alberta, Dekowny pled guilty in Swift Current Provincial Court to fraud under $5,000.
The charges stem from his time as the former Executive Director of the Dr. Noble Irwin Regional Health Care Foundation.
He is scheduled to appear in court for sentencing on April 23.
The crown originally charged Dekowny with fraud over $5,000.
His plea is for a summary conviction rather than an indictment.
Sask Sport highlighting anti-bullying message on Pink Shirt Day
Sask Sport is marking Pink Shirt Day with a focus on eradicating bullying in sports.
"I work every day towards mitigating the amount of bullying that happens in amateur sports," said provincial sport consultant for Sask Sport Nathan Cole. "We know it happens, so we work to prevent and address bullying in sports when it does happen and any forms of abuse."
Part of that focus has been developing policy to deal with it.

Wall sees premiers leading fight against Trump tariffs
As the threat of Donald Trump's tariffs against Canadian goods looms large, former Saskatchewan Premier Brad Wall believes it will be premiers leading the fight.

Wall reflects on the Trudeau years
To comment on the end of Justin Trudeau's time as Prime Minister, Brad Wall had to break one of his mother's rules.
"My mom taught me, as most moms did, that we should probably not say anything if we don't have anything nice to say," the former Saskatchewan Premier said. "I know how she felt too about the Trudeau government so maybe she'd be OK with it."

Gas taxes up for Saskatchewan in 2024
Fuel prices are up for Saskatchewan compared to twelve months ago, and that trend may continue in the new year.
The average price is now $1.73 a litre, $0.18 a litre higher than where they were a year ago.
"2024 brought with it some challenges," said Head of Petroleum Analysis at Gas Buddy Patrick De Haan. "Gas prices have continued to slowly moderate now with the continued rise in the carbon tax. We did end up paying a little bit more in 2024 and unfortunately if the carbon tax is to increase again in 2025, that's kind of the reoccurring theme."
