Above-average fall temperatures predicted for Southwest 

As autumn begins to settle in, residents in the Southwest can expect above-average temperatures in the following months. 

Terri Lang, a meteorologist with Environment and Climate Change Canada, shared her insight on the seasonal changes. 

“For September, October, and November, the fall forecast is for above-average temperatures and there's no real pattern indicated for precipitation,” she elaborated. 

Pooch Plunge makes a splash for Swift Current SPCA

Despite the cooler weather on Monday evening, the Swift Current community came together for a howling good time at the annual Pooch Plunge held at Fairview Pool. 

The event provided furry friends the opportunity to take a dip in the pool while raising 70 dollars for the Swift Current SPCA.

On Monday, from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., those in Swift Current are invited to accompany their four-legged companions as they take a dip during the annual Pooch Plunge.

With closing day just around the corner, Meghan Chisholm, the Aquatic Supervisor for the City of Swift Current, elaborated on the bustling 2023 season. 

“It was a really hot one this summer,” she stated. “It's great to see everyone come and enjoy the sunshine being outdoors, and enjoying their summer vacation, especially with the kids being off from school. It's been a busy summer and we're always happy to see that.”

Effective today, the annual ban on pruning elm trees has been lifted in Saskatchewan, marking the end of a seasonal restriction aimed at curbing the spread of Dutch Elm disease.

A historical stone house in Swift Current, known for its rich history and unique architecture, has been given a new lease on life thanks to the dedication and hard work of local business owner, Lawrence Carr. 

Carr recently completed the restoration of the aging structure, transforming it from a state of disrepair into a tribute to Swift Current’s history.
