Acclaimed country star taking it to Swift Current streets
One of the most distinguished artists in Canadian country music will be parking his tour bus in Swift Current at the end of August.
Gord Bamford, winner of 26 Canadian Country Music Association Awards, will be taking it to the stage, as Swift Current celebrates its fourth annual Taking it to the Streets event.
Bamford has been back on the road, playing shows since February, although he explained that things are looking a little different than they did prior to the pandemic.

The tank, that resides outside the Colonel Clifton Centre, was recently tagged with obscenities, a massive sign of disrespect to veterans in Swift Current according to Andy Keys, who helped initially restore the tank.

RCMP are asking the public to be on the lookout for a 26-year-old female that was last seen over six months ago in Edmonton, AB.
Danecia Funk is a caucasian female and is described as standing approximately 5'4", weighing about 120 lbs, and having brown eyes and brown hair.
The former Swift Current resident was last seen in the area of the University of Alberta Hospital on January 14, 2022, and was reported missing to police on June 23, 2022.
2022 flag football season approaching
Flag Football season is approaching in Swift Current, and there is still time to register.
The league plays at the Swift Current Comprehensive High School football field and is a co-ed seven-on-seven league for adults.
Co Commissioner of the organization, Brant Stock, said that the 2022 season will kick off after the long weekend.
Wetland opens in Riverhurst
The long-awaited wetland program in The Village of Riverhurst and Riverhurst Communities in Bloom marked its grand opening on Saturday morning.
Development of the Wetland has been in the works for numerous years. In 2018, work began to re-establish healthy levels of water as well as adding safeguards to monitor and control flooding.
Prairie wetlands are powerful ecosystems and are an important part of native prairie biodiversity. As much as 80% of Saskatchewan's wildlife relies partially on the shelter and food found in areas such as wetlands, to survive.
