Some new Manitoba measles cases not connected to other known ones, officials say
The number of measles cases in Manitoba has jumped to 20, and health officials say some of the recent cases had no contact with previous ones.
Dr. Davinder Singh, a medical officer of health for the Southern health region, says that's concerning because it's unclear where those people became infected.
Most of the cases have been in the Southern health region and Singh says it is connected to the area's low vaccination rate.
Blue Bombers to start season without Collaros due to suspension for missed drug test
The Winnipeg Blue Bombers will be without their starting quarterback for the first game of the 2025 season.
On Wednesday afternoon, the Canadian Football League (CFL) announced that Zach Collaros has been suspended one game for failure to respond to Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport (CCES) officials for an off-season drug test.
While several attempts were made to contact Collaros, there was ultimately no response within 24 hours.

A 17-year-old gospel singer who won over fans on American Idol is preparing to release a gospel album.
Canaan James Hill won over the judges during his audition with Lionel Ritchie, giving him the platinum ticket, allowing him to bypass the first round of Hollywood.
"That was powerful," said Ritchie. "You have been so blessed," said Ritchie. "That was something so spectacular. I can't even describe what I heard."
"When you sing at church, what do people do? Do they just run to the baptism pit, jump in it and get saved immediately?" said Luke after his audition.

The 200-bed personal care home in south Winnipeg celebrated the lives of eight centenarians on Tuesday with a once-in-a-lifetime party.

With fans’ help, Steven Curtis Chapman releases moving tribute to mothers
Alongside the help of many fans, Steven Curtis Chapman released a beautiful ode to all moms with his single "Speed of Love."
"Some of you may remember hearing this song I wrote about my mom & shared around Mother’s Day last year," says Chapman. "Well, I’m very excited to finally be releasing 'Speed of Love' into the world as we know it!"
Chapman released a shorter version on social media in 2024 for his mom, but this year, thanks to many fans sending in photos of their moms, he released the full song and music video.
