A 17-year-old gospel singer who won over fans on American Idol is preparing to release a gospel album.
Canaan James Hill won over the judges during his audition with Lionel Ritchie, giving him the platinum ticket, allowing him to bypass the first round of Hollywood.
"That was powerful," said Ritchie. "You have been so blessed," said Ritchie. "That was something so spectacular. I can't even describe what I heard."
"When you sing at church, what do people do? Do they just run to the baptism pit, jump in it and get saved immediately?" said Luke after his audition.
Hill was eliminated after making it to the top 10, but he says it has not gotten him down.
"I wanted to let you know I'm doing well. I'm happy. I'm not sad. I'm not hurt. None of that," said Hill in a Facebook live. "I believe that God allowed what happened to happen for a reason. There is greater on the way. I'm ready for whatever God's got coming."
Hill announced that he is working on music for a gospel album. He also mentioned that something else special is on the way. However, he said he is not allowed to give details.
The talented teen says it's a miracle he made it onto the show, as he had no interest in auditioning. He says it was his family who pushed him.
"If I had turned that down, who knows whose souls would not be saved. I thank God for being able to go there and save souls for Christ," said Canaan. "It's such a blessing to see so many of you inspired, not by me, but by the Holy Spirit using me. "
The content creator who graduated early from high school to get into preaching says that to be able to reach so many people on such a wide platform was a blessing.
"I give all glory and honour to God. To get to go on there and lift the name of Jesus to so many, I would've never thought I'd be so serious with y'all. I would've never thought I'd go on American Idol and make it to the top 10, but I'm so grateful I did."
Until his gospel album is out, Canaan James Hill says he plans to keep himself active on Facebook, hosting Q&A and live worship nights.
Although he has been eliminated, Canaan encourages his fans to continue to watch the show and support his friends.
