Early morning fire claims life of cat, leaves two families without a home

A fire early Monday morning has claimed the life of a cat and left two families without a place to live.

Shortly after 3:30 a.m., the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service was called to a two-storey home in the 400 block of Redwood Avenue.

The house was fully engulfed in flames when crews arrived and it had spread to a neighbouring home.

Firefighters fought the fire from outside, declaring it under control just over an hour later.

Most residents evacuated before crews arrived. Firefighters also temporarily evacuated some neighbouring homes as a precaution.

Winnipeg author shares stories of lives transformed by Christ at orphanage

Mully Children's Family has been close to the heart of local author Paul Boge since he first visited decades ago.

"I went to MCF for the first time in 2003 to teach physics and math, and Charles Mully asked me to write the story of his life," said Boge. "I almost fell off my chair. It felt like you were interviewing somebody who had just walked out of the book of Acts."

He has been involved ever since, writing five books about Mully Children's Family, including his latest book Transformations.

Verse of the Day: October 28

1 Peter 1:24-25

For, “All people are like grass, and all their glory is like the flowers of the field; the grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of the Lord endures forever.” And this is the word that was preached to you.

Thoroughness

Proverbs 13:4, 9; 20:4

I just looked up the definition of "thorough" in my dictionary. Mr. Webster says it means "carried through to completion, careful about detail, complete in all respects." Somehow, I find that a convicting definition. Few indeed are those who finish what they start—and even fewer do a complete job of it when they do finish a task.
