16 and 20-year-old charged after 8 people sprayed with bear spray

Six people were randomly assaulted by bear spray in Osborne Village on Wednesday morning. 

Just before 7:30 a.m., a 20-year-old female bear sprayed the driver of a vehicle through the window when it was stopped at the intersection of Stradbrook Avenue and Donald Street.

Shortly after, the suspect approached another female who was riding her bicycle near Donald Street and Bell Avenue and assaulted with bear spray.

While waiting for a bus near River Avenue and Donald Street, another victim was approached by the suspect and assaulted with bear spray.

'To bring hope': Summer camp serves in west-Winnipeg

Over 20 campers attended Kids Kamp on Wednesday at the Salvation Army's Heritage Temple Park. 

Kids Kamp is a summer camp run by the Salvation Army and will be held for six weeks this year. With this being the first week, campers and staff are excited for the beginning of the summer.

" We are so excited, we are so happy that we've welcomed many people from our community at our Animal Planet-themed week at Kids Kamp," shared Debbie Neufeld, the Children and Youth Ministries Coordinator.

Manitoba renews provincewide emergency order as wildfires rage, forcing thousands out

Manitoba Premier Wab Kinew again declared a provincewide state of emergency Thursday, as renewed wildfires forced thousands out of their homes, some for the second time in weeks.

Kinew said the order, the second since late May, is critical to rally resources.

"We're going to be asking Manitobans to be helping out in a number of ways," Kinew told a news conference. 

"We want to underscore just how serious this wildfire season is."

55-year-old run over in back lane in unstable condition

A 55-year-old male remains in unstable condition after being run over in the back lane on Wednesday evening.

Shortly after 7 p.m. on July 9, a black SUV was exiting a parking lot going north in the back lane of 400 block of Balmoral Street. The vehicle unknowingly ran over a man who was already lying on the ground. 

The 55-year-old male was taken to the hospital in critical condition but has been upgraded to unstable condition. 

12-year-old charged after stabbing sends female to hospital

A drug dispute led to a woman being robbed and stabbed in the North End on Friday.

On July 4, a dispute broke out between a 31-year-old female and known acquaintances in the 400 block of Pritchard Avenue. It then broke into a physical fight between the residents and the victim. 

The woman was able to escape but was chased down by one of the adults, along with a 12-year-old youth. The victim was thrown to the ground and stabbed as the suspects attempted to steal her purse. The suspects ran off, while the female made it to a nearby store for safety.

Morning traffic at a standstill as Abinojii Mikanah construction causes major delays

Westbound drivers on Abinojii Mikanah are facing major delays during the morning commute as lane closures for construction bring traffic to a crawl.

This morning, traffic was backed up from River Road all the way to St. Anne's Road, leaving many commuters stuck for extended periods. The congestion stems from a significant construction project that began July 2 and is set to continue until October 24, 2025.
