"God turned it around for my good! From Idol to EGOT baby!!! 20 years later, and now back on TV with my own show," said Hudson in a recent post on Instagram.
An EGOT is a person who has won an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony during their career, something that Hudson has managed to do over the past two decades.

A member of Big Daddy Weave's touring family has died.
On Thursday, Mike Weaver's wife, Kandice, announced that Micah Elfrink, who helped their family while on tour, died in a tragic car accident last Saturday.
"Micah was one of those people that made everything better just by being there," said Kandice in a post on social media. "She had a quiet strength about her and carried the peace of the Lord with her wherever she went. She was a servant in the truest sense of the word….always doing anything and everything that was needed with a smile on her face."
Guinness record-holder for longest-running pastor dies
A pastor in Texas who held the Guinness World Record for longest tenure as a pastor has passed away.
Rev. Dr. Doris Nathaniel Benford Sr. passed away on April 15. Benford was the pastor at Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church in Texas City and had been for 72 years straight.
Unsung Hero movie hits No. 2 in box office opening weekend
A Christian movie about the power of family took the second spot at the box office this past weekend.
Unsung Hero grossed over $7.7 million on its opening weekend at the theatres. The movie beat out Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. A movie featuring Zendaya called Challengers took the number one spot.
The movie portraying the difficulties the Smallbone family of 9 faced while uprooting themselves from Australia to the U.S. was showing in over 2,800 theatres across North America. Opening night was April 26, 2024.
Asbury University still 'riding the wave' 14 months after revival
The vice president of student life at Asbury University, Dr. Sarah Thomas Baldwin, is releasing a book based on the Absury revival and its lasting impact on the campus and area.
"It’s really exciting," says Baldwin in an interview. "And so it’s been many stories from people all over connecting to share their testimony."
Bryan Olesen moves on to The Voice finals
Former Newsboys guitarist Bryan Olesen continues to amaze coaches and fans on The Voice.
Olesen, whose coach is John Legend, received a Playoff Pass early on allowing him to skip weeks of performances and move onto the playoffs.
On Monday, Olesen returned to the stage, where he sang Toto's 'Africa.'
'Disa was an opus': Mandisa's funeral a celebration of life
Brentwood Baptist Church in Tennessee filled with people coming together to celebrate the life of Mandisa.
Mandisa was born on October 2, 1976, in Citrus Heights, California, and passed away in her home in Nashville on April 18, 2024.
Hundreds showed up to the funeral in Brentwood Saturday morning as well as over 11,500 people live-streamed the service online.
Colton Dixon to sing in new feature film
Colton Dixon is bringing his songwriting skills to the big screen as part of Angel Studios, SIGHT.
The former American Idol contestant released the title track of the film, 'Rest Of My Life' on Thursday.
“Sometimes when you write a song, it takes on a life of its own,” shares Dixon in a press release. “After I experienced the film and got to meet Dr. Wang in person, the lyrics and cadence of the song took on a whole new meaning. I can’t wait for this song and the film to impact the world in a powerful way.”

After months of wrestling with the tenets of Christianity, actor and comedian Russell Brand announced he's going to be baptized this weekend.
The St Trinian's actor posted to X to share the news with his followers. "This Sunday, I'm taking the plunge. I'm getting baptized."
