John MacArthur, influential pastor and broadcaster, dies at 86

John MacArthur, a prominent evangelical pastor, broadcaster and author whose teachings reached millions around the world, has died at age 86.

His ministry, Grace to You, shared the news Monday evening in a Facebook post: “Our hearts are heavy, yet rejoicing, as we share the news that our beloved pastor and teacher John MacArthur has entered into the presence of the Saviour. This evening, his faith became sight. He faithfully endured until his race was run.”

A church leader made the announcement to the congregation on Sunday saying that MacArthur, "may be in the presence of the Lord soon.”

The Adult and Teen Challenge men's addiction recovery program up north is holding onto their faith as they look to rebuild after the devastation of the wildfires. 

"It's very devastating," says Allen Lagore, the Flin Flon Regional Director with Adult and Teen Challenge of Central Canada. "When you first get back to your community and realize that 218 homes have been lost in our community, you see the effects on everybody's lives. It rips your heart out."

B.C. man says son conceived in residential school abuse, both sue church

A British Columbia father and son are suing the Anglican Church of Canada, alleging the son was conceived as a result of sexual abuse by a female employee of St. Michael's Indian Residential School in Alert Bay in the late 1960s. 

The lawsuit says the father was 14 years old when he was victimized by a school supervisor in 1968, and he settled a lawsuit with the church in 2008 over the alleged sexual assault at the school on Cormorant Island, northeast of Vancouver Island.
