High-ranking Cardinal found guilty in Vatican's 'trial of the century'
Cardinal Angelo Becciu, a once-powerful prelate and close Pope Francis adviser, was found guilty on Saturday by a three-judge Vatican panel of embezzlement and fraud in a high-profile corruption case that rocked the Holy See’s hierarchy.
Following a marathon trial that began in July 2021, Becciu was convicted — along with eight others — in a courtroom located inside the Vatican Museums. He was sentenced to 5 1/2 years in prison for his crimes.
Alberta church destroyed by suspicious fire, RCMP investigate
A small historical church in Alberta has been destroyed by fire.
Wood Buffalo RCMP were called to St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Janvier at around 10:30 p.m. on Friday.
When officers arrived at the church, it was completely engulfed in flames.
Shane Janvier, Chipewyan Prairie First Nation councillor said in a video on Facebook that early indications appear to be arson.
International House of Prayer founder admits to past inappropriate behaviour
The founder of International House of Prayer Kansas City has taken to social media to admit to inappropriate behaviour he committed over 20 years ago.
"With a very heavy heart, I want to express how deeply grieved I am that my past sins have led to so much pain, confusion, and division in the body of Christ this hour," said Mike Bickle in a statement he released last week.
He goes on to admit he sinned by engaging in inappropriate behaviour.
Miracle baby ripped from home by tornado found sleeping in tree
A mother of two young children says that it's only "by the grace of God" that both babies are alive after a tornado destroyed their trailer home and tore her baby from its bassinet.
Sydney Moore of Clarksville, TN says that on Dec. 9 she had just moments to jump on top of her one-year-old son on the floor, while her four-month-old baby slept in a bassinet, as a tornado tore the roof of her home off. Her boyfriend, and father of the infant, attempted to grab the bassinet as the tornado lifted it into the air.
