Gospel making surprising inroads in Myanmar

When a local Christian worker visiting homes in Burma (Myanmar) knocked on one door in the country devastated by a military coup, he didn’t realize a military family lived there.

Area residents were resentful and/or terrified of the family since the February 2021 coup unleashed havoc in the country – protests, crackdowns and sheer random violence left many areas paralyzed.

2023 Juno nominations announced for Canadian Christian Music

The Juno award nominations for 2023 have just been announced and Jordan St. Cyr is among the nominees. 

The 52nd Juno Awards will take place in Edmonton in March this year and this morning the nominations are being announced. 

There is one category for Canadian Christian music, a Juno award for a Contemporary Christian/Gospel Album.

Two up-and-coming Christian artists decided to release a fun song on social media about their affection for Steven Curtis Chapman and it's turned into more than they could have hoped. 

Coby James and Joseph O’Brien are young men hoping to make it big in the Contemporary Christian Music (CCM) scene. Together they run a podcast called the COJO show, short for the first part of each name. 

Peace County residents packed over 3000 boxes for Operation Christmas Child

Despite the challenges posed by inflation, shortages, and the conflict in Ukraine, Canadians lovingly packed 415,072 shoeboxes with toys, hygiene items, school supplies, and many other items during the 2022 Samaritan’s Purse shoebox campaign, Operation Christmas Child. That’s an increase of more than 1,000 shoebox gifts over 2021’s total.

Distribution of shoeboxes around the world has already begun. During the next few weeks, children in Ukraine, the Philippines, Central America, and western Africa will be receiving shoeboxes packed by caring Canadians.

Church outreach program demonstrates Christ's call to serve neighbours

St. Thomas Anglican Church's Kreative Kids community project has expanded to reach everyone in their community, encouraging connection through arts and good food.

Initially, Kreative Kids was the first program St. Thomas Anglican Church offered, first started 10 years ago, it is a drop-in art program for the community of Weston and Brooklands. Each day there is something new for the kids to take part in, such as arts and crafts, board games, video games, movie nights and more.

NASA astronaut weighs in on new science exhibit at Bible museum

"Science does not contradict Christianity," says devout Christian and former NASA astronaut, Jeff Williams, during a visit to a new science exhibit at the Museum of the Bible.

The exhibit titled Scripture and Science: Our Universe, Ourselves, Our Place opened on January 19, 2023, in Washington, D.C. at the Museum of the Bible. Retired NASA astronaut, Jeff Williams visited the exhibit and shared his thoughts on Christianity and science.
