Has the West turned a blind eye to increased persecution against Christians internationally?

We asked Todd Nettleton with The Voice of the Martyrs USA. He says the U.S. State Department has placed less emphasis on these issues in recent years. “I was very disappointed with how the CPC report was issued this year. It’s Friday afternoon. It’s a written statement. There’s no press conference; there’s no effort to draw attention to the report or to draw attention to the countries which are persecuting religious minorities.”

An NFL player is listed in critical condition, and athletes, pastors, and fans have been united in prayer after a scary incident broadcast on Monday evening to millions of people on live television.

The Buffalo Bills and Cincinnati Bengals were barely into the Monday Night Football match-up when the Bill's Damar Hamlin collapsed on the field. There were "just over six minutes left in the first quarter when Hamlin tackled Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins after a 13-yard catch," NFL.com reports. "Hamlin got to his feet, then collapsed backward."

Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI, who served as head of the Roman Catholic church from 2005 until his surprise resignation in 2013 and known for his writings and defense of traditional values to counter the increased secularization of the West, died Saturday at age 95.   

Benedict’s death was announced by the Vatican. Pope Francis will preside over the funeral Mass on Jan. 5 at St. Peter’s Square.

 A new report says persecution against Christians has increased in 18 countries since 2020. The report comes from the Catholic charity aid to the Church in Need.

Todd Nettleton with The Voice of the Martyrs USA says much of this persecution is happening in Africa.
