Paddling to exorcism: Abuse allegations spark new regulations at Christian schools
Saskatchewan is stepping in to supervise three independent schools after a proposed class-action lawsuit was filed against former teachers, pastors and church elders.
The province says the three schools employ staff who are named in the suit filed by former students of Legacy Christian Academy in Saskatoon.
The suit alleges physical, sexual, psychological and spiritual abuse at the academy between 1992 and 2005.
Some of the allegations include paddling children and an exorcism.

Since an anti-conversion law has been in place earlier this year in India, some women are being asked to choose between Jesus or some dire consequences including their next meal.
According to Voice of the Martyr's Canada, Jharkhand is a tribal Christian belt location, and it's there the anti-conversion law took effect in January. This has people trying to force women to choose Hinduism and deny their Christian faith.

Philippine authorities rescued 13 children from online sexual exploitation and have arrested a man from Australia behind this human trafficking operation.
The man was sentenced to 15 years in jail last week, for ordering and directing the live-streamed sexual abuse of Filipino children.
Jordan Janzen and band spreading hope up north through... country music?
Typically Jordan Janzen leads the Christian band The Color but this week he's the front man of JJ and the Ringers, singing country music in the Northwest Territories with the Billy Graham Association.
"We've been working together with the Billy Graham Association (BGA) since 2015," says Janzen. "They try to connect with communities that don't have as many people coming through and therefore not as many opportunities to experience live music and events like this celebration."
Wildfire in UK stops unexpectedly at top of cross
People are taking notice of a recent wildfire that stopped at the beginning of a huge white chalk cross in a field in England.
In July the United Kingdom was under an unusual heat wave, which was causing some wildfires.
Breaking out in one field, a fire raged onward, until it came to the top of a big white cross, a war memorial for WWI soldiers that never came home. The names of those who died in World War II were later added to stones inside the perimeter of the cross.

Tamíris Muzini and Robert Douglas are adjusting to life not only because they got married last week, but they are pet owners of a new dog.
Taking place in Brazil, when the bride arrived at the church, Muzini found the dog waiting at the entrance with her family.
"I thought that it was incredible! What is this dog doing here?" says Muzini. "I saw him next to my father waiting for me to get into the church and I thought that was it."

A basketball team from Alabama just came back from a life-changing trip to Israel, where many players followed in Jesus' footsteps, getting baptized in the Jordan.
The college basketball team from Auburn, Alabama recently came back from a 10-day trip in Israel to play three exhibition games. But they did much more than just play basketball.
"Today, we shared a special moment with each other," the Tigers tweeted with pictures of the team members being baptized in the Jordan River.
