B.C. police probe whether arson attack on home of Ukrainian pastor was a hate crime
The Ukrainian Canadian Congress has called on police in Victoria to investigate an arson attack on the home of a religious leader as a hate crime.
Gasoline was poured through the mail slot of the family home of Father Yuriy Vyshnevskyy, pastor of the St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, the congress said in a statement on Thursday.
Five people were in the home early Wednesday when the fire broke out.
All made it out alive, although one child was injured and a woman needed to be rescued from a window ledge by fire crews, said Victoria police.

The wife of televangelist Pat Robertson has died at her home at the age of 94.
Dede Robertson passed away on April 19 at the couples Virginia Beach, VA, home. She is survived by her husband of nearly 70 years, M.G. “Pat” Robertson, as well as 4 children, 14 grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren.
Pat Robertson is the founder of the Christian Broadcasting Network and Regent University and hosted the television show The 700 Club for many years.
PRAY: Stephen Stanley's home broken into while on tour, wife home alone
On Wednesday afternoon the up-and-coming Christian artist Stephen Stanley posted to social media thanking God his pregnant wife isn't hurt after a scary event.
"This morning someone tried to break in our house while I was on tour," says Stanley. "My wife was home alone."
