Federal government announces $4 million for grain research in western Canada

The federal government has announced new funding for grain research in western Canada focused on a number of topics.

Lawrence MacAulay, Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, announced the investment of over $4 million to the Western Grains Research Foundation.

That will go towards the WGRF's AgriScience Program – Clusters Component, part of the Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership.

SaskTel names new President and CEO

SaskTel is announcing a new CEO and President is stepping into the role immediately.

Charlene Gavel was appointed to the role by the board of directors on August 3 after the previous CEO and President retired in February.

Gavel has been Chief Financial Officer for SaskTel for 9 years, with the board relaying their confidence in her.

SaskPower warns customers of email scam

SaskPower is letting its customers know that they've received reports of an email scam targeting its customers.

The fraudulent email (which appears to be from MySaskPower) states that the customer has an unpaid bill and demands payment immediately or face disconnection.

The email also has links encouraging customers to log into their MySaskPower account or to submit a credit card payment online. These links direct customers to external websites aimed at obtaining personal and credit card information.

The forecast covers all of North America, with forecasts usually broken down by region.

For this winter, the forecast has put the Prairies at an average amount of snowfall with very cold conditions.
