Federal election first for Swift Current--Grasslands--Kindersley riding
The Governor General has dropped the writ for the 2025 Federal Election.
Local candidates will vie to represent the new riding of Swift Current--Grasslands--Kindersley.
Conservative Jeremy Patzer is the incumbent in this region. He has been the local Member of Parliament since 2019.
Terry Sieben is running for the People's Party of Canada.
We do not yet know of any other candidates.
The Liberal Party, NDP, Green Party and Maverick Parties all had candidates for Cypress Hills--Grasslands in 2021.
Carney calls April 28 election, parties kick off campaigns
The leaders vying to become Canada's next prime minister are officially kicking off their campaigns today, vowing to strengthen Canada's economy and stand up to U.S. President Donald Trump.
Liberal Leader Mark Carney has confirmed a federal election will be called on April 28, speaking outside Rideau Hall after requesting Parliament be dissolved.
Carney will be running in the Ottawa riding of Nepean.
The Nepean riding has been held by Liberal MP Chandra Arya for the last decade, but the party recently revoked his nomination.

PM Mark Carney expected to call federal election on Sunday
Prime Minister Mark Carney is expected to call a federal election on Sunday for a vote as early as April 28.
Sources would not confirm the specific date of the vote, but federal campaigns must run at least 37 days.
This will be Canada's 45th federal election.
Canada's political parties have been mobilizing campaigns by nominating candidates and organizing leaders' tours.
Carney was elected as Liberal leader to succeed Justin Trudeau on March 9 and was sworn in as prime minister along with his new cabinet on March 14.
Branden Leslie 'going to be ready on day one' when Federal election called
No matter when a Federal election is called, Portage-Lisgar M.P. Branden Leslie is ready to hit the campaign trail.
"For me it's an opportunity to go door to door, and talk to as many people around the riding as I possibly can," he said. "We have offices in Winkler and Portage that are in the midst of being set up, and are going to be ready on day one whenever the writ is dropped."
When will election be called?
M.P.’s are slated to return to the House of Commons March 24th, but Leslie expects an election will be called before then.
Conservatives, People's Party select candidates for new federal Red Deer riding
The federal Conservatives have selected Burton Bailey as their candidate for the newly re-aligned riding of Red Deer in the next federal election.
Bailey has served for many years as executive assistant to Red Deer-North MLA Adriana Lagrange.
He was selected during a vote held March 8 beating out Penhold Mayor Mike Yargeau and Red Deer Public Schools Board Chair Nicole Buchanan.
Meanwhile, the People’s Party of Canada has selected local certified financial planner Kyla Courte as their candidate.
