White-nose syndrome, a fungal infection that poses a threat to several bat species in Saskatchewan, has been found in Grassland National Park.
“This is disheartening news for us,” said Iga Stasiak, a provincial wildlife health specialist with the Ministry of Environment. “We expected that we likely would detect the fungus at some point. This is a fungal infection that has devastated bat populations across North America.”

New record set by SaskPower this week
The heat wave in the province is helping SaskPower to set new records for summer demand this week.
At 5:22 p.m. on Wednesday, the demand for electricity reached 3,551 megawatts. The previous record was 3,547 megawatts, set on June 30th of last year.
Calls renewed to check property for signs of Frances Gazeley
The RCMP are again asking residents of the Weyburn area to check their properties for signs of 77-year-old Frances Gazeley.
Gazeley was last seen in the Weyburn area, and the last someone spoke with her was on December 7. The search, which has been underway since then, has been focused in areas close to Weyburn, including Ceylon, Bengough, Minton, and Colgate.
