Stanley Bryant released from hospital

Stanley Bryant, the left tackle for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, has been released from hospital and is now back home.

The 35-year-old player expressed his gratitude to the CFL community and, in particular, to the fans in Manitoba for their concern and compassion.

The team's PR person, Darren Cameron, said on X on Saturday afternoon that Bryant had been released from hospital after spending the night for observation and further tests.

Goldeyes headed to post-season after win over Monarchs

The Winnipeg Goldeyes (50-41) scored six times over the final three innings and secured a post-season berth with a 7-2 victory over the Kansas City Monarchs Saturday evening at Legends Field.

It will be the 21st playoff appearance in franchise history. The win also assures the Goldeyes will finish the regular season with a winning record, something the club has now done 25 times.

Community Comes Together for Corn and Apple Festival

Saturday at the Corn and Apple Festival was a day filled with excitement, tradition, and community pride. The day kicked off with the much-anticipated Corn & Apple Parade, where the streets were lined with Morden residents eager to see the colourful floats, marching bands, and local groups showcasing their creativity and spirit.

"It's been a great weekend so far. The crowds are good despite the heat, and the music tonight has just been phenomenal," said Nathan Knight, Corn and Apple Festival chairperson. 

Fatal collision south of Altona

Emergency crews remained on the scene of a two vehicle collision south of Altona late into Saturday night.

According to Altona/Rhineland Emergency Services, the department responded to the collision around 4:18 p.m. Saturday afternoon. It was at the junction of Highway 30 and PR 421.

Two vehicles were involved in the incident, and one person has been confirmed deceased as a result of it.

Traffic was being re-routed around the scene Saturday evening.
