On September 29th the Pentatone Oxingale Record Label released a recording of Ukrainian composer Thomas de Hartmann’s Cello Concerto featuring the world renowned cellist Matt Haimovitz.

This Sunday October 22nd at 2:00pm the Women’s Musical Club of Winnipeg (WMC) will be presenting a concert called “The Slavic Soul.” The Concert takes place at CMU’s Laudamus Auditorium and will feature two musicians that are very familiar to Winnipeg Audiences, cellist Paul Marleyn and Madeline Hildebrand.  

This Wednesday, October 11th at 7:30pm at Westworth United Church, Winnipeg’s GroundSwell will kick off their 2023-24 Season with a concert called “With Glow and Abandon.”

Since 1991 the Virtuosi Concert Series has been delighting audiences with world class chamber music, performed by some of the best musicians on the scene.

For anyone who has lived on the prairie for any length of time, the end of September means the end of the harvest, and a time to give thanks for all that the earth has provided for us.

This Sunday October 1st at 6:30pm and 8:30pm, Jazz Winnipeg in collaboration with the Fort Garry Hotel will be presenting Winnipeg based trumpet player, arranger, and composer Chuck Copenace.

Tomorrow night, Wednesday, September 6th at 7:00pm, the Women’s Musical Club of Winnipeg will be holding a fundraising concert in support of their Biennial WMC McLellan Competition at 510 South Drive.

Every two years, the WMC McLellan competition awards $20,000 dollars in cash prizes to three outstanding soloists. The intent of the WMC McLellan Scholarship is to provide career funding and performance opportunities for advanced Manitoba educated musicians pursuing performance careers.
