Canadian Musical Community Mourns Passing of Jocelyn Morlock
Many in the Canadian musical community are reeling with shock and sadness over the death of Winnipeg-born, Manitoba-educated composer Jocelyn Morlock at the age of just 53 years old.
Born in St. Boniface, Jocelyn received her Undergraduate Degree at Brandon University, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Piano Performance. From there, she would go on to earn Masters and Doctoral degrees in Composition from the University of British Columbia.

This Sunday, March 26th at 7:30pm at the Winnipeg Art Gallery, the Winnipeg Chamber Music Society (WCMS) will be presenting their fourth concert of the 2022-2023 Season.
This concert will feature Miklós Rózsa’s Sonata for two violins, Dvorak’s Op.87 Piano Quartet and Brahms’s passionate and lyrical 2nd Cello Sonata in F.
The Power of Conversation: Mennonite Community Orchestra performs this Sunday
This Sunday, March 13th at 3:00pm at the Lutheran Church of the Cross the Mennonite Community Orchestra will be performing a concert that they are calling “The Power of Conversation.”
Featuring the music of Liszt, Schumann, and a Winnipeg premiere of a terrific Symphony by the Danish composer Niels Gade, this concert will feature pianist Anna Schwartz in a performance of the first movement to Schumann’s A Minor piano concerto.

Kids Helping Kids-Manitoba Registered Music Teachers Association Musicthon 2023
This weekend, Saturday, March 4th and Sunday, March 5th, the Manitoba Registered Music Teachers’ Association (MRMTA) will be hosting their annual Kids Helping Kids Musicthon. This is an event that is now in its 34th year… The main purpose is to raise money for music programs for disadvantaged youth and give back to the Winnipeg community.
