Broncos sign second rounder from 2022

The Swift Current Broncos announced today that they have signed 2007-born defenceman Jace McFaul to a Standard Player Agreement. He was drafted with the 26th overall pick in the 2022 WHL Prospects Draft.

McFaul, from Edmonton, Alta., was selected after recording 46 points (13-33-46) in 30 games with the Pacific Coast Hockey Academy U15 program in Victoria. The right-shot defenceman also dressed for eight games with the U16 team, registering four assists.

Broncos announce training camp and rookie camp schedule

The Swift Current Broncos announced their Decor Complete training camp schedule today, as well as announcing they are hosting a rookie camp.

The rookie camp, featuring 73 players, begins Thursday morning at 8:00am with each of the four teams practicing. The rookie camp runs from Thursday until Saturday. All 19 members of the Broncos 2021 and 2022 WHL Prospects Draft classes will be hitting the ice at the InnovationPlex for rookie camp.

Broncos acquire Gage Alexander from ICE

The Swift Current Broncos announced today that they have acquired 2002- born goaltender Gage Alexander from the Winnipeg ICE in exchange for a 2025 third-round pick. He was a fifth-round selection, 148th overall, by the Anaheim Ducks in the 2021 NHL Draft.

Alexander, from Okotoks, Alta., has played parts of four seasons in the WHL with the ICE, appearing in 45 career games with a 25-11-3-2 record.

Eight Broncos heading to NHL development camps

Eight members of the Swift Current Broncos' 2021-22 roster are attending NHL development camps over the coming weeks. That includes the five players drafted in the 2022 NHL Draft, and three members who are being invited by teams.

Owen Pickering (Pittsburgh Penguins), Connor Hvidston (Anaheim Ducks), Josh Filmon (New Jersey Devils), Reid Dyck (Boston Bruins), Josh Davies (Florida Panthers), Isaac Poulter (New Jersey Devils), Sam McGinley (Carolina Hurricanes) and Cole Nagy (Colorado Avalanche) will be attending their respective camps.

Seven Broncos listed in final NHL Central Scouting rankings

NHL Central Scouting released their final rankings for the 2022 NHL Entry Draft Thursday morning, and seven Swift Current Broncos were listed. Owen Pickering (15th North American Skaters), Josh Filmon (38th NA Skaters), Josh Davies (69th NA Skaters), Connor Hvidston (107th NA Skaters), Mathew Ward (137th NA Skaters), Rayan Bettahar (188th NA Skaters) and Reid Dyck (8th NA Goalies) were listed.
