Province proposes lowering compulsory school age
The Manitoba government has introduced legislation that would lower the age a child is required to attend school and remove barriers to students enrolling in schools in the area where they live.
Unexpected shot of snow has people talking today
Parts of the Pembina Valley have been receiving a relatively unexpected shot of snow Thursday. The initial forecast for the day had been for a few flurries, but Environment Canada updated what was to be expected around 9 a.m., indicating several centimeters of flaky white stuff could fall.
RCMP Investigation underway after alleged hazing incident
Manitoba RCMP has confirmed an investigation is underway, and continues, after receiving a report February 20th of a hazing incident that happened the month before in January. The incident was reported to have occurred in Winnipeg.
In an update provided to PembinaValleyOnline, RCMP indicated the incident involved a hockey team. Because the investigation is ongoing, authorities say no further information will be provided at this time.

Snowfall Warning ended, flurries taper off Wednesday night
Updated Wednesday, March 6th 7:15 p.m. - A Snowfall Warning has ended for much of Southern Manitoba including the Red River Valley and Southeastern corner of the province.
"Communities including Pilot Mound, Manitou, Morden, Carman, Winkler, Altona, Emerson and Morris can expect a few more centimeters Wednesday night before the flurries taper off some time this evening," stated CMOS Accredited Weathercaster Chris Sumner. "I would suggest another 5cms max for those areas, on top of the 5 to 10cms we've already received."
After missing weekend storm, snowfall in the forecast for Wednesday
After the Pembina and Red River Valleys missed the worst of Sunday's significant winter storm, the areas are looking likely to see some accumulating snowfall on Wednesday as a low-pressure system tracking through the Dakotas brings flurries to the region.

One person found deceased in Emerson
Manitoba RCMP are confirming a person was found deceased in Emerson over the weekend.
Several people reported to PembinaValleyOnline there was an RCMP presence in the community. Authorities have released no other details, including the reason for the police presence.
RCMP confirmed there is no risk to public safety, adding the law enforcement agency will be in a position to provide more information on Monday.
