Damage sustained to numerous maintained snow trails prompts reminder from Pembina Valley RCMP
Reports of vehicles operating on the trails of various Sno-Clubs and causing significant damage have recently come into the Pembina Valley RCMP detachment. The RCMP says it's received numerous reports of such incidents.
The trend has prompted the detachment to remind the public that groomed and maintained snowmobile trails within the Province are for designated snowmobiles with a Snopass only.
United Way Pembina Valley set to disperse over $100k
Nineteen local non-profits will benefit from a total of $103, 000 collected through the United Way Pembina Valley's 2022-2023 campaign.
“We’d like to thank everyone who made a donation to this year’s campaign,” said United Way Pembina Valley president Chris Willsey in an emailed statement. “By working together, we’re able to support a range of vital programs, services, and projects that aim to make life better for so many people who call the Pembina Valley home.”
Funds from Jewelry Donation Program to further efforts of grassroots group to "Bring Life Back" to Boyne River
Continuing to support local projects and agencies through its Jewelry Donation Program, Nine Lives Fashions in Carman recently rewarded a local grassroots group with the funds collected during this round of the program.
$1,200 from the store's Jewelry Donation Program was recently donated to The Boyne River Keepers. Having received funds through the program before, the group has been given a total of $2,200.
Fake $100 bills keep turning up, more turned in to Winkler Police
Two additional counterfeit $100 bills were recently turned over to the Winkler police.
On February 1st, the manager of a retail business in the community brought the two fake bills to the police service and turned them in. The counterfeit currency was used to make a purchase at the store on January 16th.
The manager also provided police with a photo of the suspect taken from video surveillance inside the store.

Pam Fedack visited the grade 2 students at Parkland Elementary School for a bit of reading fun!

(Video) Longtime Winkler business destroyed in Thursday fire
Firefighters have cleared the scene after a long day and night at the scene of a fire that destroyed a business that's been a fixture in the City of Winkler for over three decades.
The blaze broke out Thursday around noon at Janzen's Paint and Decorating and spread quickly throughout the building. Morden Fire Rescue arrived on the scene about an hour after the fire started to assist with the efforts.

Fire crews continue to battle a fire at Janzen's Paint and Decorating in Winkler.
The blaze broke out around lunch today, and it didn't take long for the fire to spread throughout the building, according to witnesses.
A toxic plume of smoke filled the sky, forcing police to temporarily close Highway 32 between Highway 14 and Cargil Road due to reduced visibility.
Highway 32 is now fully open to traffic.

23-Year-Old facing numerous charges, including Assault Causing Bodily Harm, following Saturday incident in Winkler
Winkler police have laid a series of charges against a 23-year-old resident after an incident on Saturday.
Shortly after midnight, police received a call from a woman reporting her boyfriend had tried to run over her with the car and had also physically assaulted her. She was brought to the hospital by paramedics for examination.
Police found the boyfriend at a different home and placed him under arrest. Officers also located a firearm that belonged to the boyfriend which was determined to have been stolen.
