$500k boost from Access gives BTHC Foundation motivation to push harder towards fundraising goal
Recently, the chair of the Boundary Trails Health Centre (BTHC) Foundation announced the fundraising committee's goal to raise $ 10 million for the hospital expansion had topped the $ 8 million mark. That was in part to a half-million dollar donation from Access Credit Union.
Access President and CEO Larry Davey made the donation official on Thursday, presenting a cheque to the Foundation for the $500,000.

The Winkler Community Foundation (WCF) presented this year's Gordon Wiebe 'Make it a Reality' scholarship Tuesday in Winkler.
Friends, family, and other supporters gathered in the atrium of the Winkler Civic Centre to celebrate alongside Aiden Friesen, as he accepted the $25,000 award.
Friesen is a grade 12 student at Winkler's Northlands Parkway Collegiate (NPC) with plans to attend the University of Manitoba this fall, and eventually pursue a career in engineering.

Mask-wearing will no longer be mandated when visiting the CW Wiebe Medical Centre in Winkler, beginning Wednesday, May 10th. Following updated guidance from Shared Health, the clinic is making the move in partnership with the Boundary Trails Health Centre. The return to routine practice, as recommended by Shared Health, is being implemented across medical and long-term care facilities across the province.
Stakeholder groups, and general public have opportunity to weigh in on Centennial Arena Redevelopment
As part of the planning process for the redevelopment of the Centennial Arena, the City of Winkler met with various stakeholder groups throughout the day on Thursday, ending with a general public session. City Manager Jody Penner says there are various tiers of user groups they're working with as stakeholders to get information on what the community sees as needs and some of the wants for the arena's redevelopment.
Morden's Community Mobilization Hub creating collaboration with agencies, and clients with complex needs
The Community Mobilization Hub is one of multiple community services located within Morden's - 500 Stephen Street Community Centre.
Community Mobilization Coordinator, Nicole Fehr works with clients on a referral basis, with referrals coming from agencies with clients that have complex needs.
The referrals often come from agencies that are seeing individuals with involvement in multiple different agencies, and getting lost between the cracks, or getting varying messages going between the agencies.
Winkler City Council ensuring three major road projects go ahead as planned in 2023
The Council for the City of Winkler is ensuring three major road projects slated to happen this year get finished.
The projects include restoring the worst part of North Railway Street, that being the east half between Main Street and Highway 32 and constructing Park Street to further extend it from Boundary Trails to Northlands Parkway.
Scott Toews, Director of Planning and Engineering for Winkler, says Main Street intersection improvements at Stanley Avenue are also on the agenda.
Funding commitments pushing BTHC expansion committee toward $10 million goal
The Boundary Trails Health Centre Foundation's goal to raise $ 10 million for the hospital expansion has hit the $8 million mark thanks to the continued generosity of surrounding municipalities, groups, individuals, and businesses.
BTHC Foundation Board Chair, Ben Friesen says the fundraising committee has done a fantastic job. He says they've been out to present to over 15 municipalities that would fall under the facility catchment.

A pair of Winkler women have brought part of a global community to the Pembina Valley.
Areli Hernandez and Heather Harder, have started the Winkler branch of The Litas - a Women's Moto Collective.
Have higher interest rates impacted MSTW first quarter numbers?
This year's first quarter numbers for the M.S.T.W. Planning District came in very similar to those from the same period one year ago.
MSTW General Manager, Glen Wieler says the number of permits taken out are very similar in comparison, while the overall value of work is down a touch, with one exception. In the City of Morden the permit was pulled for the new school, and Wieler says the value of work for that one project alone is $44-million.
"It's good to see a big project earlier in the year, and we're excited about what's coming up," said Wieler.
Winkler florists host evening celebration with living art exhibit
Bloom Floral in Winkler celebrated its four-year anniversary Friday night by throwing a party, complete with a living art exhibit, at the Winkler Arts and Culture Centre.
Owners Kristina Peters and Madison Schiller assembled three large floral art installations for the celebration, calling the event,' Blooming Still Life' - with the theme 'Music Box."
The evening also included food prepared and served by George's Catering, music by cellist Melanie Shwarz-Peters, and mingling among the living art.
