Provincial agriculture minister Daryl Harrison said last week he had heard from cattle organizations about the need for more help.

North West Terminal Ltd. is being tight-lipped about what is happening with the idled grain company.

 Two brothers embroiled in an eight-year-long bitter legal battle over control of a generic crop input business have “buried the hatchet.”

Jim and Jason Mann have agreed to end litigation against one another and the businesses they run, which are Farmers of North America (FNA) and AgraCity Crop & Nutrition Ltd.

“The news of the day is the Mann vs. Mann is ending and Jim and I are burying the hatchet,” said Jason.

It was a magical Sunday for the Eastman Wildcats club as they won gold after the finals game was postponed a while back and also won a game to improve to 31-0.

A cyclist was transported to hospital following a crash Wednesday morning in La Broquerie.

Fire Chief J.C. Normandeau says his department received the call at 9:37 am. He explains that a male cyclist riding an e-bike was heading north down Main Street, when he was hit by a car turning onto Main Street from Gauthier Street.

"Obviously, the car operator did not see the cyclist coming by and then accidentally hit him," says Normandeau.

He says the cyclist was taken to hospital with undisclosed injuries.

The former head of Manitoba Hydro was paid just over $881,000 last year, despite being dismissed six weeks into the year.

Jay Grewal's earnings in previous years, where she had worked a full year, ranged from $500,000 to $546,000.

The amount last year, revealed in an annual Manitoba Hydro compensation report, suggests a large lump sum payment when Grewal was let go as president and chief executive officer.

RCMP say there were no injuries in a two-vehicle crash in Steinbach on Canada Day. 

It happened around 1:50 pm near Mennonite Heritage Village.

According to police, a motorist was driving north down Highway 12 and was turning left at the intersection, when it collided with a vehicle that was travelling east and crossing the intersection. Police say the driver of the eastbound vehicle did not see the northbound vehicle approaching.

No injuries were reported.

Canada Day ended with a bang Tuesday in Southern Manitoba, and not only from the fireworks. Late day thunderstorms, triggered by heat and humidity, also brought strong winds and hail to the region.

Eric Dykes is a Meteorologist with Environment Canada. He says the storms were not part of a major weather system but were the result of heat, humidity, and upper-atmospheric instability.

Walter Thiessen, 86, of Winnipeg formerly of Steinbach, passed away Friday, June 27th at St. Boniface. He is survived by his wife Hildegard, 2 daughters, 1 son, 1 brother, 2 sisters-in-law and their families. He was predeceased by 5 siblings. 
The funeral service for Walter Thiessen will be held Friday, July 4th at 11am at North Kildonan Mennonite Brethren Church, 1315 Gateway Road, with burial at St. Paul's Anglican Cemetery, West St. Paul. 
Viewing will be at the church prior to the service. 

Wednesday morning, road construction crews were seen placing pylons along Brandt Street south at the Main Street intersection, and continuing down Brandt Street south. 

Back in May of this year, the province announced that PTH 12 would be resurfaced for 3.1km between Park Road and McKenzie Avenue in Steinbach. And that the work would begin this summer and be completed by fall.
