Firefighters from across Manitoba continue to rally together as wildfires rage in several parts of the province, including a large blaze in the Rural Municipality of Piney, which has been 50 percent contained by Friday evening.

The wildfire burning in the Rural Municipality of Piney is now 50 percent contained, according to the latest update from the RM of Piney.
Crews continue to battle hot spots along Fireguard 14, with efforts focused on securing the northeast line near Badger and extending lines near St. Labre and Whitemouth Lake Road.

SASKATOON — Canada’s two national railways are about to enter a stretch of prolonged labour peace with the major unions representing their workers.
“It’s a period of calm,” said Mark Hemmes, president of Quorum Corp., which is Canada’s grain monitor.

MLA urges patience as wildfire threat continues
